Batteries
How often do you come home and automatically plug your fone or tablet into a charger?
"Ladies. Charging your vibrator to full is actually ruining it....."
STOP IT!

Scarlett Anderson

You were expecting me to be smutty there weren't you?
Oh, go on then.....

Same goes for your phone.
& your laptop.
"Charging either device to full is actually ruining them....."
You're giving the device's batteries a false memory.
It actually shortens battery life. Therefore the lifespan.
Charge to max of 80 - 90%.
Great Andy. So do we actually do this?
It's not difficult.
For Battery Longevity (Optimal Use)
For most modern lithium-ion batteries, avoiding extreme states of charge (near 0% or 100%) significantly extends their lifespan.
- Daily Use: The 40-80% Rule Keeping the battery's charge level between approximately 40% and 80% for daily use reduces internal stress and heat, maximizing the number of charge cycles.
- Deep Discharges/Full Charges Only charge to 100% when you need the maximum capacity for a long trip, and avoid letting the battery consistently drop below 20%.
- Storage If storing a device or spare battery for an extended period (weeks or months), charge it to around 50% first and store it in a cool, moisture-free environment.
How to Set Limits on Your Device
Many manufacturers now include features to limit charging:
- iPhone (15 and later): In Settings > Battery > Charging, you can set a charge limit between 80% and 100% in 5% increments.
- iPhone (14 and earlier): The Optimized Battery Charging feature is available in Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging.
- Samsung Phones: The "Protect battery" feature in Settings > Battery limits the charge to 85%.
- Laptops (Asus, etc.): Many PC manufacturers like Asus provide a proprietary app (e.g., MyASUS) with a "Battery Care Mode" to limit the charge to 80%.
